WHAT IS KINTSUGI?

The Kintsugi Collection of embellished prints and bookmarks was inspired by the ancient Japanese pottery mending tradition of Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the ancient art of mending broken pottery with gold - making the "brokenness" of the object beautiful and visible. This process honors and celebrates the history of an object, rather than masking its scars.

This print collection came into being after I received an order of my art prints with unexpected errors throughout. Unable to offer the prints in their flawed form, I decided to transform them into something altogether new! Through this process of editing and embellishment, I wanted to give these pieces a new life that honors their past. By offering them to you in the form of bookmarks and irregular sized prints, I hope to inspire you in the quiet, contemplative moments of your daily life and remind you that:

While the journey of life can sometimes feel like a series of breaks…

These breaks and scars, both visible and internal, are beautiful!

Our scars tell the story of our strength and transformation.

Every journey is unique.

THREE GOLD DOTS MOTIF

The three dots motif carried throughout this collection symbollizes a lifelong commitment to growth and expansion. They represent moving closer to someone we want to be or away from someone we once were. I hope these three ascending dots serve as a quiet reminder of how far you’ve come.
