“This sweet bear looks lazily at us, peering from its perch… If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to see a bear from a distance (without surprising it), you may already know that they scent the air to figure out if you’re a danger to them. They don’t see very well, but their nose is impeccable, and if you’re standing upwind from them, they will often know you are there and saunter off into the woods before you even see them. Or perhaps they will stay for a while and lean into the wind to get the measure of you. This bear seems to be curious…but lethargic. Not too curious, I hope…”
