“Turns” Relief Print on Acid-Free Blue Paper

As an Artist working primarily in black and white, it’s not very often that I make a piece with color! While most of my work is drawn on canvas, occasionally, I enjoy making relief prints as well.
“Turns” is a special print that celebrates the joy of making sweeping, flowy ski turns down a mountain slope on a bluebird day. In that moment, all cares and worries melt away. A person can be entirely free if they allow themselves to play and enjoy the moment.
What is a relief print?
A relief print is made when the Artist carves a block made of wood (or linoleum in this case) in the reverse of what they want the final image to be. Ink is applied using a roller, and the image is then transferred onto a piece of paper. The process is extensive, meditative, and leads to some really interesting textures in the final piece.
