"Brooke" | Original Drawing
“Brooke” is an 16x20 original black ink drawing on white canvas featuring a snowboarder standing at the edge of a snowy hillside between two stands of trees and holding their board behind their back while looking out at an impressive mountain peak and receding mountain landscape. Snow falls through the sky above, giving an impression of distance and scale to this drawing. There’s a confidence and a sense of capability in this figure here as they gaze out at a mountain landscape that echoes the power and depths of their own heart.
This drawing was actually inspired by a viewer at one of my gallery shows. I had a long conversation with a female snowboarder about how wonderful it would be to see a snowboarder image with this power stance. We talked at length about details and how to get that pose “just right”. That wonderful conversation inspired me to create this piece, which is why I decided to name the drawing “Brooke” - an homage to its inspiration.
While the drawing name I’ve chosen has a reason that is specific to me, I also think the word conjures images of flowing streams, or brooks, of power within. We all have the ability to tap into this power in any given moment, if we choose to step forward with courage and determination.
This drawing arrives unframed and ready to hang as is or display in the custom frame of your choosing.
