“Snow Wave I” is a 24x24 larger scale original black ink drawing on white canvas, the first of what I hope will be a series of snowboard themed explorations of texture, movement, and time. This piece depicts a split second in time as the snowboarder seems to fly through the picture’s frame, their edge picking up a great wave of snow in their wake. The only part of the snowboarder we see is the trailing edge of a hand, steadying them above the power of the wave. This piece has its own sense of speed and momentum, as you can almost hear the slicing sound of a snowboard’s edge cutting across the smooth surface of the snow.
