"Consideration " | Original Drawing
“Consideration” is an 18x24 original black ink drawing on white canvas depicting a moment of contemplation and conversation between two skiers while perched on the edge of a steep snowy mountainside.
I like to think these figures are backcountry skiers who are engaged in careful contemplation of the current snow conditions or the best course to take down the mountain. Too often we see in ski films and media the result of these conversations - epic, incredible lines that light us up and leave us craving more. However, we don’t often see the planning, contemplation, and work that goes into keeping skiers as safe as they can be in avalanche terrain of that magnitude.
What I love about this piece is the collaborative relationship of the two figures as they determine the right course of action. It seems to say that, paradoxically, bold adventuring requires careful contemplation in equal measure.
“Consideration” arrives unframed and ready to hang as is or in the frame of your choosing.
